Upper Peninsula ACS Student Research Symposium

Purpose of the Symposium: To provide a venue for students to present their research in chemistry,
chemical engineering, and related fields. This symposium will be an excellent opportunity for
students, faculty, and the community at large to learn about the interesting research being
conducted up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! The event is sponsored by the Upper Peninsula
Section of the American Chemical Society.
Intended Audience: Undergraduate and Graduate students, pursuing research projects through
externally-funded grants, guided independent study, or as part of a course. No Cost to Present!
Location: New Science Facility Atrium, Northern Michigan University Campus, Marquette MI
Presentation Format: Poster presentations, maximum size 3 feet high x 4 feet wide
How to participate: Send an email to Dr. Megan Frost, firstname.lastname@example.org, with the intended title of
your poster, author information, and a brief abstract (200-word maximum) describing the work to be presented. Please put “UP ACS Research Symposium” in the subject line of the email, and include the poster title, author, and abstract as a PDF file.
The deadline for abstract submissions is March 1, 2014, at 5:00 PM
Awards! We will be judging posters and offering prize money to the highest-quality posters and
presentations. Many awards will be given! All presenters will receive a USB flashdrive with presenter information, presentation abstracts, and other info.

Travel Support: A limited amount of travel support is available. If you wish to apply, send an email to Joe Sabol, email@example.com, with 1) your name, mailing address, phone, and email, 2) estimated round-trip mileage, 3) and the number of participants traveling in your vehicle. Please put “UP ACS Research Symposium Travel”, followed by your name, in the subject line of the email.
