Parent Organization: Student Activities
Materials United is Michigan Tech's joint chapter of the American Foundry Society and Materials Advantage. As a professional society, Materials United was established to promote among its members a self-sought increasing knowledge of metallurgy, materials science, engineering, and related fields.
Materials United works to provide opportunities for professional development to members. MU sponsors industry days, foundry and plant tours, and travel to conferences such as MS&T (Materials Science & Technology). MU also hosts Castathon, which is an on-campus casting competition geared towards providing students with hands-on experience in metal casting.
Check out the Materials United calendar for general meeting times and other events.
